I had a similar thing happen, where I had to defend a device. Fortunately they seem to rerandomize so maybe I wont get mission completely impossible next time. Which… I’m not sure that’s possible to deal with. 20 health is a lot for 2 guys to chew through in one round.Įdit: I could have avoided the mission and gotten… poisoned weapons for everyone. Including a Spectre, which… I’m not sure I could have beat. Oh and there was another group around the corner I snuck by. Well when the Gateway made 15 zombies actually (not an exaggeration by the way, actually 15 of them they kept blowing things up and packs kepts streaming in, maybe 2-3 of them were dead ADVENT guys), because until that point I’d almost convinced myself it might be possible even though one person was already dead. This is easily my biggest WTF moment of XCOM. Glad I’m not playing on Ironman, I don’t have to put up with… whatever this was.ģ man missions maybe shouldn’t have like… a dozen bad guys, including the highest tier of them. Oh also it’s attacks seem to draw Lost like crazy. This might have been the dumbest thing I’ve seen.

Actual units, no free actions for murdering them. When Doombubble uses his Gateway it can kill like… 12+ of them (and did). They spawned there on the thing I have to defend. This is my first time ever fighting a Deathsphere this game, so it’s the top enemy type for me.

  • This is a mission where you can only bring 3 people.
  • Send one reaper to lay eyes on targets and sit back and fire away from the safety of your landing ramp, hahah With quad turrets at the base of the ramp it was shooting fish in a barrel, these units fire across the map. I love both of these missions, but I got to say, it wasn’t until this campaign that I bothered to build the defense matrix that I realized what had been a really hard mission could be made into one really comically easy. But then that’s the reason I don’t honestly care, I’ve done the xcom mech thing already.ītw, just an observation about both avenger attacks I’ve seen, first by a chosen encounter and the 2nd being the standard one we’d encountered before with the UFO shoot down.

Shame really, it’s not like Firaxis doens’t know how to make cool mechs, I mean after all that was one of the cooler features of the first xcom’s expansion. I agree with the spark comment, the before and after versions are still not getting it done enough to ever qualify as one of the 6 members I’d take on a mission. I’ll see how much trouble they are this time around, I’ll be running into them at a blacksite mission soon enough. That’s true, I always forget you can just uncheck a DLC to remove it, have to keep that in mind next campaign. I hope I’ll have the stomach to live with my failures - most stuff I’ve read says it makes your personal story much more meaningful if you’re actually having to deal with your losses, and not reloading trying to 100% everything. I’ve also been saving/reloading on occasion specifically for testing moves when I’m unsure if something would use an action or end the turn. Just so I know what I’m meant to be doing. I could justify it to myself by saying I’d maybe allow a single mission re-start for every new mission type I’ve not encountered before. I haven’t suffered any casualties yet, though just had my first rescue mission and that got pretty hairy re-enforcements every turn and I had to chance a couple of rushes through enemy overwatches to get to evac … thankfully they all missed otherwise I’d be facing that decision too! I have a feeling the honor ironman thing is going to die hard as soon as things go wrong. I still made a start of battle and a mid battle save like I always do.
